Rep. John Murtha (D-PA), Chairman of the House Appropriations Defense Subcommittee, died Monday at the age of 77 from complications following gallbladder surgery. Last Saturday, the 19-term congressman became the longest-serving House Member in Pennsylvania history.

President, Congressional Leaders discuss jobs and the economy

Today

President Obama held a meeting today at the White House on jobs and the economy with a bipartisian group of congressional leaders. The President held a news conference to discuss the meeting. Sen. Majority Ldr. Harry Reid (D-NV) hopes to unveil a jobs bill today with his hope that the Senate will vote on the bill later this week.
