The victims of the 2011 and 1993 World Trade Center terror attacks were remembered today at a ceremony that took place at the National September 11 Memorial Plaza in lower Manhattan. Family members were invited to participate in the ceremonial reading of the victims' names.

The more than three-hour ceremony began with the tolling of bells throughout Manhattan as houses of worship mark the time when the first plane struck the North Tower.

The reading of the names was paused six times, to mark the time when each plane hit the towers, the times when each tower fell and the moments when one plane struck the Pentagon and Flight 93 crashed in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

Unlike past commemorations, there were no speeches from political leaders during this year's event, which focused on the family members and their losses.
