The American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) CEO Barry Rand outlines his organization's priorities for 2013 when he addresses reporters Tuesday at the National Press Club.
According to AARP, 30% percent of those currently in the middle class will fall into "low income" in retirement. Today's speech outlines AARP's concerns about possible changes to Medicare and Social security legislation that could affect people age 50 and older.
Barry Rand notes that people on the verge of retirement are facing lower incomes, uncertainty about healthcare, and underfunded pension and 401(k) plans.
AARP, a nonprofit organization with a membership of more than 37 million, provides health and financial resources for retired Americans. Mr. Rand joined AARP as CEO in 2009 and also serves as chairman of the Board of Trustees at Howard University.
