Richard Trumka, head of the nation's largest federation of unions, today spoke on the recent legislative efforts affecting public workers collective bargaining rights in the states of Wisconsin and Ohio. In a speech at the National Press Club, the AFL-CIO President responded to the claims of some state governors, who contend the measures were necessary to balance their state budgets.
The luncheon address also covered other challenges facing union workers, such as unemployment figures and the rise in gasoline prices. Trumka also weigh-in on the 2012 presidential election and the campaign efforts of organized labor unions.
