Analysts Weigh In On New Oil Producing Technologies

Washington, DC
Thursday, July 12, 2012

The New America Foundation hosted a panel discussion on the potential for oil development posed by new drilling technologies, and what that development means for national petroleum policies.

Panelists included government officials, industry analysts, and oil company insiders, who looked to answer two questions. One, will the new oil drilling technologies work and to what extent? And two, what will those new technologies mean for U.S. oil supplies and U.S. politics?

The New America Foundation "emphasizes work that is responsive to the changing conditions and problems of our 21st Century information-age economy -- an era shaped by transforming innovation and wealth creation, but also by shortened job tenures, longer life spans, mobile capital, financial imbalances and rising inequality," according to its website.
