Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chair John Kerry continues his push for the U.S. to join the Law of the Sea Treaty by welcoming the business community to testify on the subject, Thursday.
The United Nations law defines the rights and responsibilities of nations in international waters.
The committee heard from the Presidents of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the American Petroleum Association, the National Association of Manufacturers and the Chairman and CEO of Verizon.
Sen. Kerry has said he won’t bring the Law of the Sea up for a Senate vote until after the election to avoid politicizing the debate.
