C-SPAN Radio continues our August airings of some of President Lyndon Johnson’s 1968 phone calls, from the final release of these conversations by the LBJ Library and Museum in Austin, Texas, and airing for the first time on C-SPAN Radio.
In this program, you’ll hear November 1968 calls just before and after the presidential election, and about the bombing halt in Vietnam and South Vietnam’s reluctance to participate in the Paris Peace Talks. Participants in these calls include Senate Armed Services Committee chairman Richard Russell, Senate Republican Leader Everett Dirksen, and President-elect Richard Nixon.
