CFPB Director Cordray Holds Field Hearing on Mortgage Policy

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) held a field hearing in Baltimore to discuss mortgage policy with consumer groups, industry stakeholders and financial experts.

The event opened with remarks by elected officials Sen. Ben Cardin (D-MD), Elijah Cummings (D-MD) and City of Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake.  Then, Director Richard Cordray delivered remarks before a panel discussion by consumer and industry representatives.

The CFPB has held field hearings on various topics, including debt collection, general purpose reloadable pre-paid cards and payday loans. The bureau was created as part of the Dodd-Frank financial reform legislation.
