On his first day on the job, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Director Richard Cordray lays out his vision for the agency in remarks at the Brookings Institution.
Mr. Cordray said he’s committed to working with Congress, state and local governments, and other federal agencies in order to protect consumers.
President Obama used a recess appointment to install the director after Senate Republicans blocked the nomination over objections to the agency’s structure.
