Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) Director Richard Cordray outlined a number of new rules and initiatives under consideration during a Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee hearing on his agency's semi-annual report.
Lawmakers asked Director Cordray about the status of universal mortgage servicing standards and about complaints over the past six months related to mortgages, credit cards and other financial products.
The CFPB is the nation’s first federal agency focused solely on consumer financial protection. The CFPB is presenting its inaugural Semi-Annual Report to the President and Congress. The latest report will summarize the CFPB’s activities and accomplishments from January 1 through June, 2011 and provide information required by the Dodd-Frank Act.
