Capitol Christmas Tree Lighting

Washington, DC
Tuesday, December 4, 2012

The 2012 U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree was harvested from the Blanco Ranger District of the White River National Forest near Meeker, Colorado. The tree arrived at the West Front of the Capitol last week.

On Tuesday December 4, the tree was lit by Speaker of the House John Boehner (R-OH) during a ceremony on the West Front Lawn of the U.S. Capitol. Architect of the Capitol Stephen Ayers served as master of ceremonies.

The Capitol Christmas Tree will be lit from dusk until 11 pm (ET) daily through January 1, 2013.
