Cato Institute Discusses Economic Effects of Defense Policy

Washington, DC
Friday, October 12, 2012

A panel discussion at the Cato Institute explored the question, " Will cutting military spending really cost jobs?"  The author, Stephen Fuller, defended his study on the subject. On the other side of the issue was Benjamin Zycher, author of a Cato Institute white paper rebutting Fuller’s findings, and concluding that cutting the Pentagon will actually help the economy in the long run.

Politicians of both major parties say budget sequestration may eliminate over a million jobs.

Christopher Preble, Vice President of Defense and Foreign Policy Studies at the Cato Institute, moderated the discussion.
