In advance of Chinese President Hu Jintao's visit to Washington, Deputy Secretary of State James Steinberg and Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman John Kerry (D-MA) discussed the U.S. relationship with China at forums hosted by the Center for American Progress. Deputy Secretary Steinberg discussed U.S. economic and national security ties with China, as well as the role China plays in the Korean Peninsula. Senator Kerry discussed U.S. economic ties with China, as well as China’s growing energy needs and that country’s role in the Korean Peninsula.
