Chamber of Commerce Gives 'State of American Business' Address

Washington, DC
Thursday, January 10, 2013

U.S. Chamber of Commerce President Thomas Donohue Thursday called on lawmakers to “put the country first” as they grapple with fiscal issues.

Speaking at the Chamber in Washington, Mr. Donohue said the national debt is the “single biggest threat to our economic future.” He also talked about efforts to work with labor unions and other groups on immigration. The remarks were part of the “State of American Business” address delivered by Tom Donohue each year.

Following the address, Mr. Donohue held a press briefing alongside the Chamber's Executive Vice President Bruce Josten to answer reporter's questions on the Chamber’s goals for 2013.

The Chamber of Commerce is one of the leading business organizations representing the interests of more than 3 million businesses.
