The Charlotte Observer and the University of North Carolina hosted a roundtable on Southern Politics, past and future, with Judy Woodruff of the PBS NewsHour.
While North Carolina voted for Barack Obama in 2008, the vast majority of the south consists of strongly red, or at the very most purple, states, but the panelists will look at how shifting demographics and election laws may effect the southern electorate.
The panel discussion featured professors from the University that focus in public policy, election laws, and the history and culture of the South, along with Scott Keeter, director of survey research at the Pew Research Center.
