Communicators with FCC Commissioner Mignon Clyburn

Washington, DC
Saturday, November 3, 2012

This week on The Communicators, C-SPAN takes a look at the Federal Communications Commission and the issues before the commission. FCC Commissioner Mignon Clyburn discusses  emergency communications following natural disasters and terrorist attacks on U.S. soil.  Commissioner Clyburn also discusses spectrum auctions, and the future of FCC leadership under a potential new Administration.

Hurricane Sandy had a “substantial and serious” effect on the nation’s communications system, FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski said. At least 25 percent of cell phone sites in the hurricane’s path were inoperable on Tuesday, the chairman said in a conference call with reporters.
