U.S. Comptroller General Gene Dodaro testifies today on the Government Accountability Office’s (GAO) FY 2012 budget request before the House Appropriations Legislative Branch Subcommittee.

Referred to as the 'congressional watchdog,' the GAO is charged with investigating how the federal government spends taxpayer dollars. The office released two reports this month detailing the fiscal challenges facing the nation and highlights wasteful programs with governmental agencies.

In testimony on Capitol Hill from earlier this week, GAO's Comptroller General Dodaro warned that "the federal government is on an unsustainable long-term fiscal path,” as a likely result due to the growing deficit and increases in spending.
