On Thursday both the House and Senate approved a short-term spending bill to keep the government running until December 16th. The $130.4 billion measure also includes spending bills for the current budget year.
The so "mini-bus" wraps three funding bills for fiscal year 2012 into one measure: Agriculture, Commerce/Justice/Science, and Transportation/Housing and Urban Development.
In the House, the vote was 298-121. 133 Republicans and 165 Democrats voted “aye,” 101 Republicans and 20 Democrats voted “no.” 14 members did not vote.
In the Senate, the measure passed 70-30. 17 Republicans joined all 51 Democrats and 2 Independents in supporting the bill - 30 GOP members voted "no." Under an agreement reached by all Senators, the bill needed 60 votes to pass.
