The House passed H.R. 2, a measure to repeal the health care law by a vote of 245-189.
Today’s vote is widely viewed as a symbolic gesture from the GOP since the measure is not expected go any further after Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) announced that he would not bring it up for consideration on the Senate floor.
President Obama has also stated he would veto the bill if it comes to his desk.
In spite of opposition, House Republicans say they will try to find other ways to block the law. Tomorrow, the House is expected to debate a measure instructing three House committees to create a substitute health care bill.
