Congressmen Present Bipartisan Gun Trafficking Bill

Washington, DC
Tuesday, February 5, 2013

Reps. Patrick Meehan (R-PA), Carolyn Maloney (D-NY), Scott Rigell (R-VA), and Elijah Cummings (D-MD) hold a press conference to introduce a bipartisan bill in the House to combat gun trafficking.

The bill would make firearms trafficking a federal crime and impose stronger penalties for “straw purchasers” who buy guns for convicted felons and others who are prohibited from buying guns on their own.

President Obama and Vice President Biden included this issue in their recommendations for legislative action, which were announced in January.
