Defense Briefs on Afghanistan-Pakistan Border Airstrike Investigation

Washington, DC
Thursday, December 22, 2011

A U.S. military investigation found that both U.S. forces had “misunderstandings and inadequate coordination that led to an airstrike that took place along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border in November.

Pentagon spokesman George Little said that American troops thought they were under attack and “acted in self defense and with appropriate force.”

George Little was joined by telephone by Brigadier General Stephen Clark.
