EPA Administrator Defends FY2013 Budget Request

Washington, DC
Thursday, March 22, 2012

EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson testified on her agency’s 2013 budget request before the Senate Environment Committee. The EPA is asking for $8.3 billion, that’s a 1.2% decrease from current levels.

According to administrator Jackson, 40 percent of EPA’s funding request is directed toward state and tribal assistance grants for implementing environmental laws such as the Clean Air and Clean Water Acts.  In addition, another 25 percent of the EPA budget request is for the Clean Water and Drinking Water State Revolving Funds.  Senator Barbara Boxer of California chairs this hearing.
