Education Sec. Duncan Addresses Nat'l Press Club

In the run-up to the presidential election, Education Secretary Arne Duncan spoke at a National Press Club luncheon on the state of the American educational system.

He highlighted recent progress in kindergarten through 12 grade education and is expected to address areas in the institution that need  improvement.  He discussed how these issues are being presented during the current presidential campaign season.  

The Secretary will also promoted innovative ways to help advance education reform efforts. Following his remarks, Sec. Duncan answered questions from an audience of Washington reporters.

Last week, Sec. Duncan told an audience of educators at a Brookings Institute seminar that public schools need to replicate charter school successes.
