Education Secretary Joins Policy Experts on K-12 Reform

The Hamilton Project at Brookings hosted a forum on new approaches to promoting attainment and achievement in K-12 education.

Education experts present talked about strategies to improve high school graduation rates, illustrate the successes and failures of charter schools and promote the advances in technology to improve K-12 Education.

Education Secretary Arne Duncan gave the closing keynote speech.  He highlighted recent progress on education reform, areas in need of improvement, and innovative ways to help advance reform efforts.  Following remarks, the Secretary took questions from the audience.

The Hamilton Project at Brookings released a series of economic facts about K-12 education and three new discussion papers by outside authors that explore innovative approaches to improving America’s education system.

The author of each paper, as well as a panel of scholars, participated in the panel discussions.
