Efforts to Curb Caribbean Drug Trafficking Examined

A Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee looked at the impact of an initiative to curb narcotics and violence in the Caribbean. Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) chairs the hearing.

The Caribbean Basin Security Initiative (CBSI) focuses on reducing drug trafficking, expanding job training for young people and ending corruption in government, among other goals.

The second annual Caribbean-U.S. Security Cooperation Dialogue was held in Nassau, The Bahamas, in November.
