Experts Discuss Conservative Immigration Policy

Washington, DC
Monday, November 19, 2012

Richard Land of the Southern Baptist Convention Monday said Republicans lost the Latino vote and ultimately the election during the presidential primaries. Referring to those in the party who have opposed immigration legislation, Mr. Land said “frankly, it’s time for us to stop listening to the people with the smallest brains and biggest mouths.” Ever since the election, leaders on both sides of the aisle have been promising to work on immigration. Exit polls showed Mitt Romney got 27% of the Hispanic vote.

This discussion took place at The American Enterprise Institute which hosted this discussion on "Conservatives and Immigration Reform."

Additional Participants included: Brad Bailey, CEO of Texas Immigration Solution; Mark Shurtleff, Attorney General of Utah; and Ramesh Ponnuru, National Review senior editor and Bloomberg View columnist.

Nick Schulz of AEI moderated the discussion.
