Experts Discuss Health of the Federal Housing Authority

The Center for American Progress hosts the acting director of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA) for a keynote address, followed by a panel discussion with experts on the FHA and its programs.

Carol Galante, Acting Director of the FHA, delivers a keynote address, focusing on the future of the agency, whose chief goal is to promote stability in the U.S. housing market by making homeownership affordable to more people. 

The agency recently underwent an actuarial review and has submitted an annual report to Congress, which is expected to clarify the health of the agency after the financial crisis and the continuing problems with the housing market.

Following her remarks, Roberto Quercia, director of the UNC Center for Community Capital; David Stevens, president and chief executive officer of the Mortgage Bankers Association; Joseph Tracy, senior adviser to the President of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York; Susan Wachter, Richard B. Worley Professor of Financial Management of The Wharton School; and Sarah Rosen Wartell, president of The Urban Institute; will participate in a panel discussion on the current health of the FHA and its future.
