The National Press Club hosted a discussion on energy production in the Gulf of Mexico which featured the government’s former top regulator of the industry, Michael Bromwich.
Bromwich was the Director of the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement. He took over the Bureau in the wake of the BP-Gulf of Mexico oil spill in 2010 and discussed the state of drilling operations in the Gulf.
Additional panelist included: Houston Chronicle Washington correspondent Jennifer Dlouhy, an energy reporter who has covered oil drilling extensively; Associate Director of the Maguire Energy Institute at Southern Methodist University Dr. Bernard Weinstein, who is the author of “The Outlook for Energy Production in the Gulf of Mexico: How the Regulatory Risk Premium is Restraining Production” (May 2012).
