The House Appropriations Subcommittee on Financial Services and General Government held a hearing to review the FY2013 budget for the Federal Trade Commission.
Federal Trade Commission Chairman Jon Leibowitz and Commissioner J. Thomas Rosch testified.
The FTC's $300 million request is about $11.5 million below the FY2012 enacted level.
They discussed staffing and space considerations, the FTC’s existing and future interaction with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, internet privacy and cybersecurity, and enforcement actions against debt collectors.
The FTC's vote to submit the budget request to Congress was 3-1, with Commissioner Rosch voting no.
