Former Mossad Director Details Events in the Middle East

Washington, DC
Thursday, October 18, 2012

Efraim Halevy, former director of Mossad, the Israeli intelligence service, discusses the Israel-Palestine peace talks, the Arab Spring, and other developments in the Middle East.

Halevy is known for taking positions outside of the political mainstream in Israeli. He recently told Haaretz, the Israel newspaper, that "a nuclear Iran does not constitute an existential threat to Israel."

A long-time promoter of diplomacy in the standoff with Iran over its nuclear program, Halevy said that Israel will "design a true operational response" if Iran develops nuclear weapons.

He speaks at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars with former State Department Senior Advisor for Arab-Israeli Negotiations Aaron David Miller.
