Former Obama Advisor Discusses Israel and the Middle East

Washington, DC
Monday, February 6, 2012

The Aspen Institute hosted Dennis Ross, former State Department special envoy to the Middle East, to speak at its event, "Israel's Future in a Changing Middle East."

The Aspen Institute President and CEO Walter Isaacson moderated the discussion and introduced the former advisor, who now works for the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, a pro-Israel think tank, after leaving the Obama administration last November. According to Department of State Spokesperson Victoria Nuland, Dennis Ross still has associations with the White House as an "unpaid advisor" to the President.

The discussion focused on Iran's nuclear activities and how failed talks with Tehran may or may not influence US-European relations due to the United States' strong ties with Israel.
