Forum Discusses U.S.-Arab Commercial Relations

The National U.S. Arab Chamber of Commerce (NUSACC) Ambassador’s Forum brings 13 U.S. Ambassadors to the Arab World together to discuss the impact of the Arab Spring on U.S.-Arab commercial relations.

Since the Arab Spring protests and demonstrations began with a man burning himself to death in Tunisia in December 2010, governments have been overthrown in Tunisia, Egypt, Libya and Yemen.  Protests continue in parts of the Middle East and Northern Africa.

A  panel discussion entitled, "Economies in Transition" will feature U.S. Ambassador to Bahrain Thomas Krajeski,
U.S. Ambassador to Egypt Anne Patterson,  U.S. Ambassador to Iraq James Jeffrey, U.S. Ambassador to Libya Gene Cretz, U.S. Ambassador to Morocco Samuel Kaplan, U.S. Ambassador to Tunisia Gordon Gray and U.S. Ambassador to Yemen Gerald Feierstein.

A second panel on "Diversifying Away from Hydrocarbons" includes U.S. Ambassador to Algeria Henry Ensher, U.S. Ambassador to Kuwait Matthew Tueller,U.S. Ambassador to Oman Richard Schmierer, U.S. Ambassador to Qatar Susan Ziadeh, U.S. Ambassador to Saudi Arabia James Smith and U.S. Ambassador to the UAE Michael Corbin.

The NUSACC is dedicated to U.S.-Arab business and works closely with government and private sector leaders throughout the Arab world, as well as members of the U.S. business community, public policy research centers, multilateral institutions, nongovernmental organizations, media and the U.S. Government.

It is officially recognized and sanctioned by the League of Arab States and the General Union of Arab Chambers of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture and serves as a “sister chamber” and partner to the national chambers of commerce throughout the Arab world.
