GOP Response to State of the Union From Gov. Mitch Daniels (R-IN)

Washington, DC
Tuesday, January 24, 2012

Following the president's address to Congress, Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels (R) delivered the Republican Address to the Nation, discussing presidential policies that the Republican party believes have made the economy worse and offering the Republicans' alternative solutions.

Of the president's policies, Governor Daniels said, "No feature of the Obama Presidency has been sadder than its constant efforts to divide us...the extremism that stifles the development of homegrown energy, or cancels a perfectly safe pipeline that would employ tens of thousands, or jacks up consumer utility bills for no improvement in either human health or world temperature, is a pro-poverty policy."

Governor Daniels is in his eighth and final year in office. He previously served as President Bush's budget director from 2001-03, and before that worked for the drug company Eli Lilly.
