New York City
Saturday, March 2, 2013

In 1790, President George Washington wrote to a Jewish community in Newport, Rhode Island about the importance of religious freedom and liberty. History professors join rabbis for a panel discussion about the letter’s legacy and George Washington’s views on the place of religion in the new United States of America. Congregation Shearith Israel and the New-York Historical Society co-hosted this event.
