Dr. Eric Goosby, the U.S. Global AIDS Coordinator, gave an update on the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) at the Brookings Institution.
Dr. Goosby spoke about lessons learned from the first decade of the PEPFAR, focusing on successes that could be useful in future efforts.
PEPFAR is a government initiative aimed at helping and saving people with HIV/AIDS around the world. The initiative was started under the presidency of George W. Bush in 2003.
In his role as U.S. Global AIDS Coordinator, Ambassador Goosby oversees implementation of PEPFAR, as well as U.S. government engagement with the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.
