Goldman Sachs CEO Discusses Global Economic Issues

The Economic Club of Washington D.C. will host Goldman Sachs Chairman and CEO Lloyd Blankfein.

He will talk with Economic Club President David Rubenstein, co-founder and director of The Carlyle Group, about global economic issues, including: the continuing financial crisis in Europe, job creation in the U.S. and the outlook for capital markets in this election year.

On Tuesday, Goldman Sachs announced that its second-quarter profit fell 12 percent, to $927 million. The company's return on equity also fell, from 12.2 percent in the first quarter to 5.4 percent.

The Economic Club includes members from more than 550 businesses in the Washington, DC metropolitan region.
