Grover Norquist Discusses Role of Taxes in National Security

Washington, DC
Monday, August 13, 2012

The Center for the National Interest hosted a discussion between Grover Norquist and Robert Merry, Editor of The National Interest, a bimonthly foreign policy journal, about the impact of America's taxes on the federal budget and national security.

Grover Norquist, as the President of Americans for Tax Reform, is best known for his no new taxes pledge that he asks elected officials and candidates to sign. Several pundits have suggested that these pledges tie the hands of otherwise moderate lawmakers to come to any sort of compromise on federal spending.

His group holds a regular tax day event during which they press lawmakers to lower taxes and create a simplified tax code.
