The VA provides care to about 42,000 veterans with limb loss and in FY 2011 the VA performed amputations on more than 6,000 veterans. The House Veteran’s Affairs Subcommittee on Health held a hearing examining the quality of health care service provided for veterans with amputations and prosthetics.
Witnesses included veterans with prosthetics, officials from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and representatives from the Wounded Warrior Project and the Paralyzed Veterans of America.
Rep. Anne Marie Buerkle, Republican from New York, chairs this hearing.
