Homeless Children Testify at House Hearing

Washington, DC
Thursday, December 15, 2011

In a rare event, members of Congress heard from homeless youth. Several homeless children were among the witnesses at a House Financial Services Subcommittee hearing on the Homeless Children and Youth Act of 2011.

Chaired by Rep. Judy Biggert (R-IL), the hearing examined the impact of the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act of 1987, which some critics allege makes it difficult for homeless children to receive housing assistance.
