House Armed Services Cmte. Reviews Defense Dept. Audit Readiness

The House Armed Services Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations holds a hearing on the audit readiness of the Department of Defense.

A July report by the Defense Department Inspector General's office found that the department failed to comply with both its own auditor's manual and the government-wide Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards.

Witnesses include: Comptroller and Undersecretary of Defense Robert Hale and Department of Defense Deputy Chief Management Officer Elizabeth McGrath, as well as assistant secretaries of the Navy and Army for financial management and comptroller, and a deputy assistant secretary of the Air Force.

Rep. Rob Wittman (R-VA) chaired the hearing.
