House Cmte. Examines Defense Dept. Plans for Sequestration

Washington, DC
Thursday, September 20, 2012

Robert Hale, Undersecretary of Defense & Chief Financial Officer says the department will be ready for sequestration but as of right now there is no detailed plan of action should it take effect. He stressed to the House Armed Services Committee that the automatic cuts are of great concern to them but added that the DOD remains hopeful Congress & the President will work together to resolve it.

The committee convened the hearing to discuss the Defense Department’s sequestration plans. Representatives from each of the four military branches also testified.

The cuts will be implemented if Congress fails to approve $1.2 trillion in deficit reduction.
