The House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee held a hearing Wednesday on the General Services Administration’s overspending. The committee focused specifically on a November 2010 awards banquet in Virginia which cost close to $270,000 and other lavish spending at other conferences.
In addition, other topics addressed included reports of $44 million in bonuses and executive compensation being awarded to GSA employees and the investigation into 77 other GSA employee conferences.
Two General Services Administration officials testified, Inspector General Brian Miller and Chief Administrative Services Officer Cynthia Metzler. Back in April, various GSA officials testified before another House committee after a report exposed excessive spending at a conference in Las Vegas.
