The House Democrats elected their leadership for the 113th Congress. House Republicans and Senators from both parties held their elections before the Thanksgiving break.
Rep. Xavier Becerra (D-CA) was elected chairman of the caucus. He’s replacing Rep. John Larson, whose term was limited due to caucus rules.
Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) was re-elected to her position. Earlier in the month, rumors circulated that she might retire from Congress, but Rep. Pelosi, recently elected to her 14th term, announced she would continue serving and run for party leader.
