House Energy Committee Meets with FCC Commissioners

Washington, DC
Tuesday, July 10, 2012

The House Subcommittee on Communications and Technology will conduct a general oversight hearing on the Federal Communications Commission.

FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski will be joined by all sitting FCC Commissioners for questions on topics ranging from broadband access to Wi-Fi technology. The hearing will include a number of issues related to the upcoming broadband spectrum auction, June 29 storm outages and reforming the universal service fund.

Senators will also question the five Commissioners about issues surrounding broadband access, as well as the agency's regulations for on-line political ads and the FCC's review of Google's use of Wi-Fi technology.

May 7, the Senate approved the nomination of two FCC commissioners, which allowed the 5-member panel to work at full strength.
