House Hearing Examines Iran, Hezbollah Terror Threat to U.S.

Washington, DC
Wednesday, March 21, 2012

Rep. Peter King (R-NY) chairs an investigative hearing of the House Homeland Security Committee to assess the terror threat to the U.S. homeland posed by Iran and its links to Hezbollah.

Committee Chairman King says Iran’s foiled plot to assassinate the Saudi Ambassador to the U.S. at a Washington restaurant last year was a wake-up call.

Additionally, Director of National Intelligence James Clapper said last month that the Iranian regime is "now more willing to conduct an attack in the United States."

The hearing will focus on Iran’s primary terrorism proxies, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, and the potential for an attack on U.S. soil.

Witnesses include representatives from the FBI, DEA, the New York Police Department and a former Treasury Department official.
