House Oversight Cmte. Holds Hearing on GAO 'High Risk' List

Washington, DC
Thursday, February 14, 2013

The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee held a hearing Thursday on the latest report by the Government Accountability Office on entities and programs deemed at "high risk" for waste, fraud or abuse.

The committee sought to understand what effect these potential abuses might have on the U.S. economy. The GAO provides updates to this report every two years. The 2013 update includes 30 programs, including Medicare, Medicaid and federal disability insurance.

Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) chaired this hearing. Seven witnesses from the GAO testified, including Gene Dodaro, the U.S. Comptroller General.
