House Rules Cmte. Considers Funding Bill to Avoid Gov't. Shutdown

Washington, DC
Tuesday, March 5, 2013

The House Rules Committee approved H.R. 933, a continuing resolution to avoid a government shutdown on March 27, when current funding for federal operations expires. Rep. Pete Sessions (R-TX) chaired the hearing. The House is scheduled to debate and vote on the act tomorrow.

Introduced on Monday by Appropriations Cmte. Chair Harold Rogers (R-KY), the $982 billion continuing resolution provides appropriations for the Departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs for a full year.

The act also maintains funding for all government agencies, programs and services until the end of the fiscal year on Sept. 30, 2013. The funding remains at last year's levels, subject to the $85 billion in automatic cuts required under the sequestration signed into law last week.
