House Subcmte. Holds Hearing on Regulating the Use of Drones

Three of the government's top developers for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), or drones, go before the House Science Subcommittee on Oversight for a hearing on operating these aircraft systems in the National Airspace System.

Witnesses discuss the effects of increased use of drones by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) on individuals' privacy. Witnesses focus on the need to regulate the use of drones to ensure the safe operation of unmanned vehicles in the national airspace.

The FAA's Director of Program Development Dr. Karlin Toner testifies alongside Dr. Edgar Waggoner, Director of Integrated Systems Research Program Office and Dr. Gerald Dillingham, GAO's Director of Physical Infrastructure Issues.
