The House Science, Space and Technology Subcommittee on Technology and Innovation holds an oversight hearing on the U.S. Fire Administration (USFA), focusing on the administration's priorities for future research, development, and training activities, as well as the agency's current effectiveness.
U.S. Fire Administrator Ernest Mitchell Jr. testified, along with representatives from the National Fire Protection Association, Western Fire Chiefs Association and International Association of Fire Fighters.
They discussed the USFA's progress in providing data to departments across the nation through the National Fire Incident Reporting System.
Additionally, they examined how Emergency Medical Services (EMS) is integrated into the USFA's goals and how USFA provides training to support fire-based EMS as an option for life-saving strategies in communities.
