IMF Managing Director Discusses State of the World Economy

Washington, DC
Monday, September 24, 2012

Speaking at the Peterson Institute on Monday, International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Christine Lagarde said global economic growth forecasts would likely be revised downward at an upcoming meeting in Tokyo.

She said “uncertainty” is one of the main drags on the global economy, but she also praised central banks, including the Federal Reserve, for recent efforts to improve economic growth through monetary policy.

The IMF and World Bank annual meetings will be held in Tokyo in early October.

Peterson Institute for International Economics Director Fred Bergsten moderated the conversation.
